I was able to do this manually yesterday by lining up all 3 peices of my gear that I had taken off in a row. Then clicked on the stone and the text and then quickly right clicked my three pieces. Nearly every time I was able to save one piece of twilight armor and many times I was able to save two.
You can make this even easier by using the 'itemrack' mod to swap gear back on.

doesnt work, make sure you keep count of the number of pieces you actually have in your inventory, it always remove the 3 pieces that you used, it just appears like you didnt loose any because for some reason it moves the other pieces in your slot to the slot of the pieces that you used.
I agree with the reply. It sometimes removes other pieces on your bag, instead of the specific ones you put on, but it always does remove them. I farmed CC rep from neutral to revered with texts/suits and never once got to keep a piece.
